Extension Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
The majority of this extension course will be classroom-based (theory), however, students will be provided with regular opportunities to apply what they learn in a practical (physical) way.
The key things that students will learn about include:
- developing new knowledge and understanding of the human body (anatomy and physiology)
- measuring athletic performance (fitness testing)
- factors that affect health, fitness, and performance (nutrition, sleep, training, sport psychology)
- how to move with skill and confidence across a variety of physical contexts
Selection is based on:
- Being committed to learning the theory of physical education (sports science). The extension P.E course will not just involve playing a range of different games or sports each week
- Being a motivated student who can work well with others
- Student application/expression of interest
- The effort you demonstrated in specialist P.E as a year 7 student
